IELTS for UKVI is a Secure English Language Test (SELT) approved by the UK Home Office for visa and immigration applications. - Confirm your route's level on gov.uk. Student and work routes set a CEFR level, not a band. Since 8 January 2026 the Skilled Worker route requires B2, which on IELTS for UKVI means at least 5.5 in each of the four skills; universities usually set a higher band of their own.
